Mirko Vucinic scored a stunning extra-time goal to help the Bianconeries secure berth for the Italian Cup final, winning it 4-3. It’s their first final since 2004 & stays unbeaten in all competition this year.
The 37 year old veteran Alessandro Del Piero had given Juve first-half lead but Djamel Mesbah scored an early second half goal to equal the score. It looked as Juventus are through as they had won the first leg 2-1 but Milan escaped defeat when Maxi Lopez netted & forced the game into extra-time.
In the second half Vucinic terrorized the penalty area & also missed a golden opportunity to seal the match when his shot hit the side net of the post.
Juventus began the extra time with tremendous speed & should have scored on couple of occasion. The wonderful start continued as they dominated the field with maximum possession.
In the 96th minute Vucinic stunned the crowd with his 30 yard long rocket. With the lead under their belly they managed to hold the rival for the rest of the period.
In the other match Napoli defeated Siena (3-2) & advanced to the final. They will now face Juventus in a thrilling encounter for supremacy.
Though they are the joint winners of maximum Italian Cups (with Roma, 9 times each), Juventus failed to win the cup for the last seventeen years. The wait has been long for the fans but Bianconeries are alert. The final gives them a good chance to win the competition for a record ten times.
“This time we will try to bring the cup home & give it to our fans.”- Said Vucinic after the match.
