Manchester United will be playing Wigan Athletics tonight at DW stadium. The match kicks off at 12.15 am. United are currently sitting at the top of the table, 8 points clear of their closest rival, while Wigan are 2nd from bottom with 28 points.
Wigan has a poor record against United, having lost all 14 games they have played against them.
City will be facing West Brom at Etihad Stadium, kick off starting at the same time as United’s. City are currently 8 points behind leaders United and they know it very well that every point they drop is going to help United edge closer to the 20th Title. They would be desperate to bounce back from the defeat to Arsenal last Sunday. Mario Balotelli has most probably played his last league match for City this season, after he was sent off at the Emirates. With just 6 games remaining in the season it is going to take a massive loss of form for United to lose the race to City.
After tonight’s match United have Aston Villa and Everton at home before they head off to Etihad Stadium on 30th April. If Manchester United win all their matches up till the derby, and City do not start scoring goals or manage to drop any more points, United might be celebrating their 20th League title at the Etihad Stadium. It is going to be an interesting Derby match.
In their previous meeting at Old Trafford, United had secured a 5-0 win. Conor Sammon was shown a red card in the first-half which gave the visitors an uphill task. Dimitar Berbatov scored a hat-trick, while Antonio Valencia and Ji-sung Park were also on the score cards.
During the Reds’ last trip to the DW Stadium, United won 4-0. The Reds have a goals record of 21-0 from the last five fixtures with Wigan.
Tom Cleverley and Chris Smalling will be amongst those hoping for a start, with Paul Scholes is likely to be rested. Nani is fit and might make it as a substitute. In-form Antonio Valencia must be aiming to make hay against his former club.
