Clash of the Titans

Finally the game I have been personally looking forward to since the start of the season. Manchester United will be taking on Arsenal tomorrow at Old Trafford. The history between the 2 clubs is enough for an explosive Saturday afternoon.

This will be the first time that Robin Van Persie will be facing his old club since his move to Manchester during the summer. He has since the transfer justified his move with goals and assists to help United reach within a point behind the leaders Chelsea. If United beat Arsenal then they would be moving to the top of the table even if it is for a brief amount of time.

Arsenal are coming back from a 7-5 win over Reading, in spite of going 4 goals down. It was a brilliant display from the Arsenal strikers to complete one of the best comebacks in the history of the game. While united are returning from a 5-4 loss during their Capital one cup match against Chelsea. United went ahead 3 times during the match, only to get beaten during the extra time. Ferguson seemed to be pretty angry at Nani, for not keeping the ball at his feet and seeing off the time. One positive that United could take away from the game was that their youths displayed excellent football and seem to be knocking for some first team action soon.

Arsenal are currently 6th in the league table, but only 7 points behind the leaders.

The only player retaining his place from among the starting XI against Chelsea during the midweek might be Rafael. Chris Smalling seems to be closing in on the comeback, while Kagawa, Jones and Vidic are still sidelined.

Arsenal will be without Wojciech Szczesny, Kieran Gibbs, Abou Diaby and their top scorer this season Gervinho. Arsenal’s star man for tomorrow might be Wilshere.

The last time the 2 sides met was at the Emirates where United won 2-1, and RVP scored for the Gunners. However the last time they met at Old Trafford, which was last year August, United won 8-2. The thumping that Arsenal received must still be fresh in the minds of the players, manager and the fans, and Arsenal would definitely be looking forward in giving some back tomorrow.

With the defenses of both teams looking weak; United’s front line firing all season long and Arsenal’s forwards finally getting the taste of the back of the net, goals are bound to come in plenty tomorrow.

The best part would be to watch the game with a good friend of yours, and the fact that “She” is an ardent Arsenal fan.
